Garth Brooks canceled his major stadium tour this year. However, his Dive Bar Tour is still going to happen. It kicks off in October at Oklahoma City’s Diamond Ballroom. For a few lucky fans, it’ll be a chance to see Garth in a small and intimate venue. It sounds like a great night, but there’s a small issue. Garth’s fans come in droves when he plays live. Brooks sells out stadiums in minutes. In fact, he broke a sales record earlier this year when his tour stop in Utah sold out.
In a stadium show, most of the audience is so far away they can hardly see him on stage. So, when he announced tickets to his upcoming dive bar show, fans jumped at the chance. In a recent tweet, he revealed just how overwhelming the response to his show at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City was.
In the tweet, Garth Brook says that 130,000 people are in line for tickets to his OKC show. However, the Diamond Ballroom only seats 700. He praised his fans for their eagerness to come share the evening with him. Then, he may have teased a treat for the rest of his fans. “We might need to record this one,” he said. Could Garth be considering recording a live album at the Diamond Ballroom?
To put his tweet into context, fans can only get tickets to Garth Brooks’ Dive Bar Tour by winning them from a radio station. Garth chose Jake FM out of OKC to handle the contest for his Diamond Ballroom appearance. They announced the contest on September 13th via Twitter and their broadcasts. Brooks sent out the above tweet three days later.
Garth Brooks’ Dive Bar Tour
Garth Brooks announced his Dive Bar Tour on Inside Studio G. During the announcement, he laid out a few details. Brooks noted that fans would have to show proof of vaccination against COVID to get in. Additionally, he said that fans would only be able to get tickets through their local radio stations. However, he didn’t announce any dates during the episode. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for future announcements.
About the upcoming dive bar shows, Garth Brooks said, “You can fully vaccinate dive bars. People have got to show their card to even get in.” Lately, some musicians and venues have received backlash from fans for making vaccination mandatory for their shows. Garth knows this. He added, “I cannot make you get vaccinated. Until it becomes a law, it is a choice. When things are a choice, you have to understand and respect that we’re all going to make our own choices.”
The Dive Bar Tour starts October 11th in Oklahoma City. Jake FM is the only source for those tickets.
