If you’re going to start a podcast about country music, having Garth Brooks join you on your very first episode will definitely get you off to a really great start.

That’s just what the country music trio Midland did on Friday, Aug. 27. The podcast is titled is “Set It Straight: Myths and Legends.” It is available on Amazon Music. The group shared information about the inaugural episode on Twitter.

The tweet also includes a brief clip of Garth Brooks from the new podcast. In this clip, the “Friends In Low Places” singer talks about an important day for him during his career.

“And so here it came,” Brooks said. “We got a chance to be with the people and they were gonna tell me where I was at in my career and it began. And uh, and you talk about – you talking about fun, you talking about memorable, you talking about those last things that you see when your last breaths are taken on this earth, that day will be one of them for me.”

Garth Brooks also praised the members of Midland in the podcast clip.

“Um, I’m here out of respect and I’m here for anybody that’s got the courage to do what you guys doing. I’ll suit up right next to you, paint my face, pick up a sword,” Brooks also said.

Unsurprisingly, the new podcast hosts were very excited to hear him say that.

It’s fitting that Garth Brooks reflected on his iconic country music career during his appearance on the new podcast. Friday, Aug. 27, marked the 31st anniversary of the release of his mega-hit album, “No Fences.” This album included such essential Brooks songs as “Friends in Low Places,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Unanswered Prayers,” and “Two of a Kind, Workin’ on a Full House.”

Garth Brooks is Just One Big Name Who Will Appear on the New Midland Country Music Podcast

The Midland country group consists of Mark Wystrach, Jess Carson, and Cameron Duddy. Wystrach is the lead vocalist and he also plays the guitar. Carson is a guitarist and vocalist. Duddy plays the bass guitar and sings.

According to PEOPLE, revealing the history of country music, while getting to talk with some of the most famous names in the genre were reasons why Midland decided to start the new podcast. Wystrach commented on this in a press release about the project.

“‘Set It Straight: Myths and Legends’ is a chance for us to dive into the fascinating folklore and fables in and around country music and gives us an excuse to hang and informally chat with some of our biggest musical and artistic heroes,” the lead singer reportedly said.

One of the future guests on the podcast will be Martina McBride.

“This is a real-life country Cinderella story: Martina McBride went from selling merch for Garth Brooks to opening for Garth Brooks seemingly overnight. Is it true? We had to talk to the legend herself to find out,” Duddy said.

Darius Rucker and Wynonna Judd will also appear on “Set It Straight: Myths and Legends.”
