On Tuesday, country icon George Strait shared “something special” with a throwback 1980s clip of the singer performing one of his many classics.

The legendary singer posted the concert footage as part of his “Strait From the Stage” social media series. The 30-second video shows George Strait singing a portion of his 1985 hit “You’re Something Special to Me.” The single came off his similarly titled fifth studio album Something Special.

MCA Records released the album on August 29, 1985 as it eventually became a platinum-selling record. The album topped the Country Albums chart at No. 1 and ended as the fourth-highest selling country album that year.

“You’re Something Special to Me” reached No. 4 on the Hot Country Singles chart. In addition, the album also had one other single that peaked at No. 1 on the charts – “The Chair.”

“Bringing you #SomethingSpecial with this #StraitFromTheStage!” the account tweeted.

George Strait Shares Patriotic Video Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

Leading up to Memorial Day weekend, George Strait posted an appropriate clip to his Twitter account. The singer shared a patriotic video in honor of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving our country.

Strait’s social media team created a lyric video for the 2019 hit “The Weight of the Badge.” The short video shares a slideshow of our first responders, firemen, police, and military. The famous musician came up with the song after meeting a police officer at an event. The encounter made an impression on Strait and used it as the inspiration for a song.

“Watching our backs, facing our fears. Lord knows it ain’t no easy task. Keeping us safe, under the weight of the badge. He swore that oath, to protect and serve. Pours his heart and soul, in to both those words,” Strait sings in the song.

“The Weight of the Badge” tells the story of an officer who followed in the footsteps of his father. It debuted at #56 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart from Strait’s 2019 album Honky Tonk Time Machine.
