#TheFireman is the reason some ladies have considered setting fires in their homes & dialing 9-1-1, in hopes that #GeorgeStrait would show up in a fire engine, wearing a cowboy hat & a slicker.”

“Best Cowboy with best singing voice.”

George Strait Releases ‘The Fireman’ in 1985

According to the King of Country’s website, “The Fireman” was released as part of his 1985 album “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind.” The was his fourth studio album and it went platinum. Additionally, it went on to receive the “Album of the Year” award at both the CMAs and the ACMs. Another hit single from the album was “The Cowboy Rides Away.”

“The Fireman” was written by Mack Vickery and Wayne Kemp. Also, it was released in May of 1985. While the song wasn’t the biggest hit ever for Strait, it was very successful. The song made it all the way to No. 5 on the country music chart.

So, what story does “The Fireman” tell? Well, the song is about a very charming man who has the ability to get some pretty mad women to chill out no matter how mad they are. He also knows how to read people and situations and he uses that to his advantage. The song gives George Strait a chance to show off his charm, as well as his smooth singing voice.

Here are a few lyrics from “The Fireman”: “Hey, well, everybody’d like to have what I’ve got / I can cool ’em down when they’re smolderin’ hot / I’m the fireman, that’s my name / Last night they had a bad one / A mile or two down the road/ Well, my buddy walked out / And left his woman burnin’ out of control / Well, I was down there in ’bout an hour or so / With a little mouth to mouth, she was ready to go / I’m the fireman, that’s my name.”
