A legend among country music legends, George Strait still sits atop his throne as the King of Country Music.
At 68-years-old, George Strait is going strong with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He has also taken a liking to the social media world, often using it as a tool to interact with his robust fan base. The “I Saw God Today” and “Check Yes or No” singer frequents Instagram with kind words or simply to share an uplifting post. On Wednesday afternoon, Strait took to social media to share a “throwback” pic and lyrics to one of his hit songs.
“At first she’s gonna come on strong like she’ll love you all night long like it’s going out of style,” the caption reads. “Then she’ll leave you with a smile.”
George Strait Shares Lyrics to Hit Song
The caption is, of course, lyrics to Strait’s 2002 hit song “She’ll Leave You With a Smile,” off of his The Road Less Traveled album. A young-looking George Strait appears in the Instagram photo though the singer and songwriter doesn’t reveal when the pic was taken. It shows Strait in his classic white cowboy hat with an ear-to-ear smile. As with most things related to George Straight, the Instagram post brought forth a lot of attention.
The song was the third single off of George Strait’s 21st studio album. The album is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling more than one million copies. “She’ll Leave You With a Smile” became the country icon’s 50th number one song on country playlist charts. The song was written by country music writers Odie Blackman and Jay Knowles.
George Strait has seemingly mastered the art of social media. He often attracts a great deal of attention for his posts. Strait often invites fans to the “Honky Tonk Hangout,” which is his Facebook fan page. He holds interactive contests with his fans through the Honky Tonk Hangout, where they can win George Strait-theme prizes.
His most recent Honky Tonk Hangout contest came just a few days ago to commemorate the release of his “Blue Clear Sky” album. The studio album was his 16th solo effort and was put out on April 26, 1996. The Honky Tonk Hangout contests have become very popular among George Strait fans and social media followers.
