Looking back on a great country song is pretty much always a joy. When that country song is performed by not one, but two, icons of the genre that makes it even better. In this case, those two icons are George Strait and Vince Gill.
In honor of their special collaboration, Strait shared a video of them singing together on social media this week. Also, the song they collaborated on was Strait’s hit song, “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind.”
George Strait reminded his fans of this captivating performance with an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Spet. 1. “Does Fort Worth ever cross YOUR mind, @vincegillofficial?,” Strait captioned the video of him performing with Vince Gill.
This is a song that causes one to look back on the loves we have lost. It’s a song that reminds us and makes us reckon with the fact that that our former girlfriend or boyfriend has moved on to someone else. It’s not a happy thing to think about, for sure. However, at least we have some very famous country music stars to be there and sing about the pain we are feeling.

To get an idea of the heartbreaking nature of the song, “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind,” check out this sample of the song’s lyrics. “Darlin’ while you’re busy, burnin’ bridges / Burn one for me, if you get time / ‘Cause good memories, don’t fade so easy / Does Fort Worth ever cross your mind? / You left me here, to be with him in Dallas / And I know it hurts you at the time / Well I wonder now, if it makes a difference / Does Fort Worth ever cross your mind?”

Here’s something you might not know about Strait’s famous song, “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind.”
The song was not originally meant for him to perform. Instead, it was his fellow country music superstar Reba McEntire who was in line to perform the new version song.
Unsurprisingly, “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” was also a big hit for George Strait. It climbed all the way to the No. 1 spot on the charts.
The songer was written by Sanger “Whitey” Shafer and Darlene Shafer. Sanger and Darlene were married at the time when they composed this future county music hit. The inspiration for the song was, obviously, Fort Worth. This Texas was their hometown, even though they were later based in Nashville, Tennessee.
