Undoubtedly, February brought a difficult time to Texas and its surrounding states. Unforeseen drops in temperature and winter storms led to power grid failures, which left millions without electricity and heat in the cold. Additionally, once the power returned, many residents discovered that they didn’t have running water.
Although many residents now have both power and running water, many are still struggling to recover from the incident. Furthermore, while recovering many residents recently received gigantic electric bills. Although the government is trying to step in and mitigate damage, residents need more. So, actor Matthew McConaughey has teamed up with his wife Camila and a star-studded lineup of musicians to host a virtual fundraiser for Texas residents. Performers include Kelly Clarkson, George Strait, Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Post Malone, and more.

But, he has mentioned politics a couple of times over the past year. Most recently, Matthew McConaughey joined Rania Mankarious on Crime Stoppers of Houston’s The Balanced Voice podcast. During the interview, McConaughey revealed that he’s considered running for Texas governor.
“I’m looking into now again, what is my leadership role?” he said. “Because I do think I have some things to teach and share, and what is my role? What’s my category in my next chapter of life that I’m going into?”
However, the earliest Matthew McConaughey could run would be next year when Texas Governor Greg Abbott is up for re-election.
