George Strait’s ‘Pure Country’ Romantic Interest Isabel Glasser: Where Is She Now?

If you’re a George Strait fan, you’ve seen “Pure Country.”

The 1992 film marked George Strait’s acting debut. For the film, Strait played Wyatt “Dusty” Chandler, a country music sensation. However, at the height of his fame, Dusty realizes he’s losing himself and decides to run away from it all for a while. He decides to shave, cut off his infamous ponytail and return to the small town where he grew up. While there he visits his grandmother and stops at one of the bars he used to play at before he hit it big. Later on, he meets tough yet sweet Harley Tucker, played by actor Isabel Glasser.

George Strait’s character defends Harley from a man who is aggressively making moves on her. Dusty gets punched in the process. And Harley decides to take Dusty back to her family ranch to get cleaned up and rest. While there, Dusty ends up befriending the whole family and he and Harley fall in love.

The film ends with Dusty back on stage but, this time, playing a song that is close to his heart and true to his character. He performs the song and walks right up to Harley, proving his commitment and love. Can you guess which song he sang? If you guessed “I Cross My Heart”, you’re right!

The song became a real-life country music sensation. In fact, while profitable at the box office, the film fell far short of its expectations. The film only made a little over $15 million against a $10 million budget. However, the soundtrack was a huge success. To date, the “Pure Country” soundtrack is George Strait’s best-selling album. And “I Cross My Heart” is still considered one of George Strait’s greatest love songs.

Where Is George Strait’s Love Interest From the Movie, Isabel Glasser, Now?

But we’re not here to talk about George Strait entirely today, believe it or not. Today, we’re talking about Isabel Glasser, Strait’s counterpart in the film.

Although she spent years acting leading up to the film, Glasser soared to fame after “Pure Country.” In fact, shortly after the film premiered, Glasser landing a leading role in the movie “Forever Young,” alongside Mel Gibson. After that, she continued to build a fantastic resume including movies like “The Sturgeon,” “Tactical Assault” and more. She also appeared in several episodes of series in the “Law & Order” franchise.

Glasser built a successful acting career through the early 2000s. However, it appeared she might’ve retired after her role in the 2006 movie, “Fireflies.” Since then, Glasser has stepped out of the spotlight and no one knows a whole lot about her personal life.

However, she may be returning to the big screen. According to Glasser’s IMDB page, the actress is playing a role in a new movie called “Pellett.” However, the movie has not yet published a release date. We just hope we can see Glasser and George Strait on the big screen together again – “Pure Country 4”, anyone?
