George Strait reveals the meaning behind his number one hit love song, “Write This Down.”
“Write This Down,” is the second single from Strait’s album, Always Never the Same. The song is about a man acknowledging that he may not be great at communicating his love to his wife. So, as a solution, he tells her to write his words down so that she doesn’t forget that he loves her. During the song, Strait sings, “Baby, write this down. Take a little note to remind you in case you didn’t know. Tell yourself I love you and I don’t want you to go. Write this down.”
“Write This Down” reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song became Strait’s 35th number-one single on the charts. However, placing on charts doesn’t matter when you watch Strait perform one of his greatest love songs. As he performs, fans of all ages and backgrounds sing along knowing exactly what it’s like to love someone.
George Strait Releases COVID-19 PSA ‘Write This Down’
Strait recently recorded a public service announcement advocating for COVID-19 safety protocols. During the 38-second video, Strait plays with lyrics from “Write This Down” to promote the procedures.
“We all know that being Texan means being friendly. And as we open Texas back up, it’s important that we stay extra friendly by thinking about all our fellow Texans,” says Strait. “So, go on, write this down,” he sings. “Take a little note to remind you of these friendly things you can do to help defeat COVID-19.”
Strait then lists the procedures that civilians can take to stay safe. “Wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask, and stay six feet apart when in public,” Strait says.
Strait concludes the video by saying, “Let’s show the world what it means to be Texan by staying safe and staying friendly.”
