Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Are Engaged

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you may not know that No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani and country star Blake Shelton are engaged. The couple met in 2014 on the set of “The Voice.” They announced their engagement last October.

According to a timeline compiled by Billboard, within six months of their first meeting, Stefani had posted a selfie with Shelton, which she captioned “[heart] him.” The two split from their respective spouses the following summer – Stefani from Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale, Shelton from country star Miranda Lambert – and sometime soon after that, they began to lean on each other for support.

That September, Stefani posted another photo of the two of them with a heart caption. The following month, they performed a chemistry-packed duet on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” By Halloween, they were seen holding hands at parties.

In November of 2015, a representative for Shelton confirmed that the two were dating. In February of 2016, they made it red carpet official.

By November of 2018, the two were celebrating the holidays as a family. For Stefani’s 50th birthday in 2019, Shelton declared he loves her so much it’s “possibly illegal in the state of California.” In January of 2020, Stefani and Shelton performed the duet “Nobody But You” at the Grammys, staring into each other’s eyes while they sang.

By October of 2020, Shelton had popped the question. Stefani, of course, said yes.

No Word on the Wedding Date

There’s no official word yet on when the couple are getting married, but in a recent interview with USA Today, Shelton revealed that he has been letting Gwen Stefani do the planning.

“If I was picking our meal, it would just literally be everything fried,” he told USA Today. “French fries, chicken tenders, you know, all of that stuff. I think she knows that it would be a pretty classless wedding if I was in control.”

Fortunately, Stefani, a sharp dresser with a cutting-edge sense of style, is enjoying the burden. Shelton said she is considerately taking charge of the whole affair.

“I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it’s going to be great,” Shelton said. “She’s in the middle of planning the thing, and she’s always so mindful… of me. She’s like, ‘Hey, I don’t want to just take this thing over.’ I think she’s having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she’s having a blast doing it.”
