When The Voice returns for Season 20 in 2021, it will be minus everyone’s favorite pop star. Gwen Stefani won’t be a judge in the upcoming season of the show. She previously joked about quitting the music competition.

Before Stefani fans fret, the move is in line with Stefani’s previous patterns of hosting the show. She usually only appears in odd-numbered seasons of the show, taking a year off in between. Previously, Stefani was a judge in Season 17 of the show and is currently judging Season 19 as well.

During a recent episode, Stefani jokingly threatened to quit the show when she had to choose between two contestants in a battle round. Larriah Jackson and Carter Rubin battled for the open spot. “I’m going to quit now,” she joked rather than pick over the two talented contestants. Ultimately, Stefani used her save to push both contestants into the next round.

Blake Shelton will be separate from his recent fiancé and rival on the show. Season 20 will feature Shelton, alongside Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas. Carson Daly will also return for hosting duties for the show. Clarkson has been on the show for seven consecutive seasons and Legend for five. Jonas last appeared as a judge on the show in Season 18.

Currently, only Shelton and Daly have appeared in every season since the show launched.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Plan a Wedding

While Stefani won’t see Shelton on set, the singer will be close by. The two now share a multi-million dollar home together. Both Stefani and Shelton have had a big year together. Last month, they announced their engagement via social media. The two have been dating for five years since they met on the set of The Voice.

Currently, both Shelton and Stefani are planning a wedding together for some time next year. They reportedly don’t want a “big wedding” preferring a more intimate gathering.
