Country music star Blake Shelton and former No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani have quite the love story. They will add another chapter to that story with their upcoming wedding, set to occur sometime in the next year.
The music industry power couple met as coaches on the popular talent show “The Voice,” where they became friends. That friendship would then blossom into a romantic relationship for the two singers. After five years of dating, Shelton musters the courage to ask Stefani to be his wife. She said yes to the proposal earlier this year and is now talking about the magical moment when Shelton popped the question.
The duo became engaged earlier this year in October and then revealed their intentions to their many fans on social media. Shelton and Stefani shared a photo of a post-engagement kiss with the latter showing off her brand new ring. The occasion took place at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, where the couple also plans to the knot.
Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the bride-to-be reveals how it all went down.
“It was getting too complicated with COVID and the family and I’m like, ‘I think we should just cancel the trip,'” she says. “It was one of those. And then we got it all together, we ended up going.”
Gwen Stefani Says Yes to Blake Shelton
It’s now safe to say that Stefani is happy she was able to make the trip to Oklahoma. With several family members of each party present at the ranch, Shelton proclaimed his love and intentions.
Shelton placed the ring in a cabinet and asked his bride-to-be to fetch him a firestarter from said cabinet.
“So I open the cabinet and there was a ring in a box and I was like, ‘Ahh! What? Are you serious?'” she recalls. “So everybody came running around because I guess they heard us screaming or whatever, and crying. There was no video, my sister-in-law to be was just shooting pictures and that’s that photo that we put out. It was a pretty magical moment.”
The couple does not yet have an official date for their wedding as of yet. The new chapter in their love will occur at the same Oklahoma ranch in 2021.
