Happy Birthday Luke Combs: Celebrating the Country Superstar’s Best Moments

Country superstar Luke Combs is celebrating his 31st birthday today.

The musician has won numerous awards and released multiple chart-topping songs in recent years. He even broke Taylor Swift’s record and became the only artist whose first two studio albums spent 25 weeks or more atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

No question, Combs has cemented his place in the firmament of country superstars.

So let’s take a little trip down memory lane and relive some of the country star’s peak moments.

Luke Combs Thanks the Crowd As He Closes Out the Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour

The 2019 tour was the first tour Combs had headlined, and it was full of highlights. There was the night he invited Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban to join him onstage. Then there was the finale, in which Morgan Wallen and Jameson Rodgers added their voices to his before trading hugs.

But perhaps the most poignant moment of the tour was the one on the final night in which Combs peered out at the crowd packing Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and spoke from his heart. He acknowledged how far he’d come, and said he’d be at a loss for what to do during his weeks off following the tour.

“You have changed my life,” he told the crowd then. “You’ve changed the life of my family, of my crew, and there’s no way to thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Then he launched into a rousing rendition of “This One’s for You,” a song he wrote with Ray Fulcher and Pat Cooper about his friends and bandmates back home.

Luke Combs Amplifies a Fan’s Touching Video

Two Combs fans, Emily and Devin, had gone to visit her ailing grandfather, Taste of Country reports. It had been a while since Emily saw grandpa, and she wanted him to meet Devin before he passed.

Devin, realizing the significance of the introduction, chose that moment to get down on one knee and ask Emily to marry him.

The Combs fans posted a video of the encounter with the Combs song “Forever After All” as its soundtrack. Combs’ social media manager showed him the video, and Combs decided to add it to his own TikTok page.

“I think that’s the coolest thing as an artist that you can accomplish,” he told Taste of Country. “Is hearing the stories or watching the moments that fans have with your songs. That’s why you do it, man, to make people happy and give them a feeling of connection to your music.”

Combs Gets Invited to Join the Grand Ole Opry

Combs made his first pilgrimage to the Opry in 2013 to catch an Ashley Monroe show. Roughly three years later, he made his Opry debut on Oct. 29, 2016.

According to Opry.com, when Combs debuted, Riders in the Sky’s Ranger Doug predicted that Combs would be a country star one day. “We’ll be hearing a lot more from that man, you can guarantee it,” he said then.

Then, in June of 2019, Combs got a wonderful surprise present. Opry members John Conlee, Chris Janson and Craig Morgan interrupted Combs’ 16th appearance at the Opry and invited him to become a member too.

“All right, holy cow,” Combs said, wiping away tears. “Are you serious? Because if you’re not serious, that’d be really mean. Oh wow. OK. We’ve got to sing another song. Let’s just do it. Can we go?”
