Miranda Lambert turns 37-years-old today. The country singer was born on Nov. 10, 1983. Lambert dreamed of being a country music star from a young age. Her music captured millions when she hit the stage in the early 2000s, winning the singer much acclaim. Over the past two decades, Lambert has become a driving force in the genre.
Over the years, Lambert has had many signature songs. But “The House That Built Me” features the artist at her most poetic and soulful. She also appeared on the weekly variety radio show Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue. The radio show helped a young Lambert gain exposure. Not long afterward she appeared in both a commercial and the comedy Slap Her… She’s French in 2001.
Lambert Competed on the Music Competition ‘Nashville Star’
At 17, Lambert started her own high school band called Texas Pride. She began writing her own songs, and her father taught her how to play the guitar. She graduated from school early to focus on her music, bolstered by support from her family. Her parents helped her both fiance and market an independent album in 2001.
In 2003, Lambert appeared on the music competition show Nashville Star, competing for a lucrative record deal. To compete on the show, Lambert moved to Nashville despite not feeling ready to make a record. Ultimately, Lambert only placed second runner-up on the show. But Sony Music loved her voice and approached her with a record contract.
Miranda Lambert Released Her First Album ‘Kerosene’
Lambert hit the country music industry in a big way in 2005. The artist released her first studio album Kerosene, which debuted at the top of the charts. Her songs had a fierceness quality that connected with country music fans everywhere. The album went on to sell more than a million copies. For the album, the ACM nominated Lambert for several awards including New Female Vocalist.
That same year Lambert went on tours with George Strait and Keith Urban.
Lambert Found Acclaim and Success
Lambert followed up her success from her first major album with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The album was highly popular not just with country fans but with music fans in general. It reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. For her work, Lambert won ACM Awards for Album of the Year and Top New Female Vocalist. She was also nominated for a Grammy.
In 2009, Lambert and Blake Shelton became country music’s hottest couple. Shelton helped her work on her next album Revolution which featured the songs “Making Plans” and “Love Song.” Two years later, Lambert teamed with singers Angaleena Pressley and Ashley Monroe. They formed a group called Pistol Annies and released an album together even as Lambert continued her solo career.
