On Thursday night, Brittany Aldean reportedly spent five hours in the emergency room and left with a new medical diagnosis.
Fortunately, it’s not a severe medical condition.
Aldean took to Instagram to share the news that she was diagnosed with pleurisy, which is an inflammation of the lining around your lungs.
Brittany Aldean Diagnosed With Pleurisy
Per the Mayo Clinic, the pleural space, which is the small space filled with a small amount of liquid, separates the two thin layers of tissue surrounding your lungs. In doing so, this allows your lungs to expand and contract as you breathe.
The clinic also notes that viral, bacterial, and fungal infections can cause pleurisy. However, the clinic adds that so can autoimmune disorders, tuberculosis, and various other ailments.
Those with pleurisy may notice shortness of breath, in addition to chest pains, and the condition can cause pain elsewhere. If inflammation occurs in the tissue, the two layers can rub together as you breathe, creating chest pains.
This feeling of chest pain is what Aldean experienced on Thursday morning, per her Instagram Stories. One photo shows her lying in bed with “the worst chest pains,” while another image, describes that she’s “still in bed and still having chest pains.”
Aldean went to her local ER and updated her followers via social media afterward.
“To help this, you take ibuprofen,” Aldean said.
Brittany Aldean was seemingly in better spirits and feeling better as she was cracking jokes on the way home.
“I hear wine is a cure, but also, I think I’m gonna get divorced now, because I just put this man through five hours at the ER,” she added while panning the camera to her husband, Jason Aldean.
Aldean was quick to quip back, adding, “For something that two Advil would have knocked out in, like, 30 minutes.”
“Okay, in my defense, it was very painful,” Brittany said. “And I thought maybe I was having a heart attack.”
“No, you weren’t. It’s like having indigestion,” he told her.
According to the North Carolina native’s social media, Aldean is getting some much-needed rest at home.
