This year has been like a dirt road: long and rough. Plenty of dirt roads lead to good places, though. So hopefully we’ll all be cruising into a much better place in the coming months. In the meantime, Jimmie Allen will be helping country music fans take the last few miles of this long road in style.
Allen took to Twitter earlier today to announce that he will be a performer at the upcoming “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” event.
Jimmie Allen at New Year’s Rockin’ Eve
In the tweet, Jimmie Allen invites his fans to ring in the new year with him. He also lets them know upfront what kind of energy he’s going to bringing to the event, “Gonna be a party” the country star says.
You’ll be able to catch the broadcast of the whole shindig live from Times Square on ABC. The festivities kick off at 8 pm eastern time, 7 pm central time. Jimmie Allen won’t be the only star stepping on the stage to close out the year with a bang. According to the official “New Year’s Rockin Eve” Twitter, the lineup will also include Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter, and Jennifer Lopez. Lopez will be the headliner for the event. Ryan Seacrest and Lucy Hale will host.
New Year’s Eve Will Rock Differently This Year
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve celebration has been a staple of the year-end holiday for over four decades. Though the name and hosts have changed over the years, the spirit has remained the same. The show features live and pre-recorded musical performances by some of the hottest artists in the business, as well as the ball drop ceremony.
There’s a good chance that you’ve switched over to your local ABC affiliate to catch the final ten seconds of the year at least once in your lifetime. Knowing that you are counting down to a whole new year with hundreds of thousands of people across the nation is a singular feeling. For those ten seconds, we are all connected through our anticipation of what is to come.
The musical performances are a great addition to the event but the connection we feel in those final moments of the year is where the true magic lies.
This year, we can really use just ten seconds of togetherness. “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” will be providing that for us despite the COVID-19 restrictions in place in New York. The show will be socially distanced and only performers, hosts, and crew will be on-site for the event.
The usual crowds of onlookers and press interviews with them will be absent this year. We will all be watching the ball drop from home, hopefully, surrounded by those that matter most to us.
The fact that Jimmie Allen will be lending his considerable talent and stage presence to the event is just the cherry on top for country fans.
