Country legend Jimmy Buffett seemed to be “wastin’ away” time when he posted a throwback photo on social media.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the Margaritaville singer posted a photo of himself and a mystery woman from his Last Mango in Paris era.
Accompanying the photo, Jimmy Buffett included the lyrics to the hit song.
I had a third world girl in Buzios
With a pistol in each hand
She always kept me covered
As we moved from land to land
Jimmy Buffett’s Spin on Last Tango in Paris
Last Mango in Paris is the fourteenth studio album by the singer-songwriter. Released in June 1985, the album was produced by Jimmy Buffett and noted country music producer Tony Brown. The record represented Buffett’s transition to a distinct country sound, which was prompted with 1984’s Riddles in the Sand. The album’s title is a play on the 1972 movie Last Tango in Paris.
Last Mango in Paris reached No. 53 on the “Billboard 200” album chart and No. 7 on the “Billboard Top Country Albums” chart. The song “If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me” hit No. 16 on the “Billboard Hot Country Singles” chart and No. 37 on the “Adult Contemporary” chart. “Please Bypass this Heart” hit No. 50 on the country charts.
In addition to his iconic throwback photos, Jimmy Buffett is also promoting his merchandise from his 1974 world tour. In addition to the sultry snap, he followed it up with a tweet about the tee shirts readily available for parrot heads worldwide. The colorful shirt was once only available reserved for die-hard Buffet fans. Now, it’s open to everyone for a limited time. In addition, Buffet also reissued it in its original colors and styles.
Besides the tee-shirt, parrot heads can also look forward to Buffett’s rescheduled tour beginning in April of 2021. Jimmy Buffett will kick off the 20-city world tour on April 15, 2021, in Charleston, SC. and finish in Orlando, Fla., on December 11, 2021.
