Jon Pardi Looks Straight Out of ‘Yellowstone’ As He Tries His Hand on a Reining Horse

Country star Jon Pardi could easily have passed for a character on “Yellowstone” as he tried his hand at riding a reining horse.

In a new Instagram post, Pardi shows off his reining skills. “1st time on a reining horse, I like the sliding,” the country singer posted Monday. “#norcal @gilsontracer @boothrancheshorsedivision.”

Could Pardi be a “Yellowstone” fan? Maybe. But he sure would fit in among the show’s cast and crew, including old pros like Jake Ream and Forrie J. Smith.

Jon Pardi Is a Musical Cowboy

When he’s not riding horses, Pardi is singing songs about cowboys and the women they love, from “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” to “Dirt on My Boots.”

And he’s been pretty successful at that, with a CMA Award for New Artist of the Year and an ACM Award for New Male Vocalist of the Year under his belt. In fact, in recent years, Pardi has had a chance to live out longtime dreams, he told Sounds Like Nashville in 2017.

“Tim McGraw and I worked out together, which was fun,” Pardi said. “I got to have a beer with Alan Jackson, and talked to George Strait a couple of times. Those are some of my heroes. I’ve gotten to do a lot of cool stuff with people I’ve been listening to since I was a kid which is definitely a cool feeling.”

The Pandemic Has Been Tough for Pardi

More recently, Jon Pardi has been struggling to adjust to quarantine life off the road. He had big plans for 2020. But that was all shot to blazes once the pandemic hit.

“We miss going out – just [to] go somewhere and chill and have a beer and tacos,” Pardi told CMT’s “Off the Road” in 2020. “You know, just like the little stuff, you know, running into people randomly. You don’t really do that anymore. Just little things like that, it’s gone.”

“When we first heard about it, we were flying around everywhere, and we had all kinds of plans,” Pardi went on. “So I was like, hey, two weeks off is fine with me. But now it’s like, there’s talk of all year for us, not playing concerts. Probably the worst feeling is not knowing when you’re gonna get back to work. And not knowing when fans can go to a concert. We had a lot of great, great festivals this year… This was supposed to be the year that I did my own thing. I was looking forward to it.”

“I was on my time,” he added. “Now I’m on quarantine time.”
