Keith Urban was a stranger to Thanksgiving when he moved to the United States more than two decades ago. Having grown up in Australia, the singer had never experienced all the American holiday has to offer. And, he says, it was a lot at first.

“The first Thanksgiving I ever had here — which was 25 years ago, ‘cause I’ve been here a long time now —  but the first one I ever had, I remember going to this family’s home, they invited me to Thanksgiving, and I couldn’t believe the volume of food. It was insane. I’ve never seen so much food in my life,” Urban told Taste of Country.

Urban’s shock at the amount of food didn’t stop with all the entrees and sides available during the meal.

“Then after the food, there was like 12 desserts. I was like, ‘Why are there so many desserts?’ They said, ‘Well, because every aunt and every grandma, everybody brought their thing, their special dessert, and you have to try every one of ‘em.’ I’m like, ‘There’s like three apple cobblers.’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, but they’re made by different people and they’re all watching, so you have to make sure you try everything up there,'” he added.

Success Continues for Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman

Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman have much to be thankful for this year. According to Taste of Country, the couple recently sold their farmhouse in the Nashville area for $2.7 million. Also, earlier this month, Urban released his new song, “Speeding Ticket,” from the album “The Speed of Now.”

Kidman is currently starring in the HBO series “The Undoing.” The Oscar-winning actress portrays a wealthy New York City mother and wife in the show. The drama begins with the murder of the parent of one of her child’s schoolmates. Later, Kidman’s husband, played by Hugh Grant, disappears. What follows is “a chain of terrible revelations,” according to HBO’s description of the show.
