Is this country music legend considering retirement? Keith Urban jokes about when he will officially hang up the guitar.
Before you freak out, every country fan’s favorite Aussi isn’t going anywhere soon. With tons of new music coming out in the last year, you can be sure that Keith Urban is still at the top of his game. Furthermore, between ACMs, CMAs, Grammys, sold-out shows, and chart-topping hits, Keith Urban’s accolades and trophy cases are anything but small. Besides, he is only 53-years-old, he has plenty of good years left in him!
“Never Gonna Happen”
In a recent interview with CMT’s Cody Alan, Urban is asked about his long-term goals with his career and if he plans on calling it quits anytime soon. He had the perfect response.
“I will after Mick Jagger does,” Urban replied with a laugh, to which Alan added, “Which is never gonna happen.”
Mick Jagger is no spring chicken at the age of 77. However, as long as he holds on to the dream, then we have faith Urban will too!
Keith Urban continued, saying retirement is for the unhappy people working the nine to five, not someone who is loving their life by singing to thousands of screaming, adoring fans.
“Never gonna happen,” Urban said. “I always think of retiring being about a factory job or a desk job or something that’s not your passion, necessarily. I play music because that’s what I do. I love making music, and if I weren’t doing it in the gigs that I’m doing it, I would be doing it in little clubs somewhere, or I’d be doing it at someone’s barbecue, or the weekends somewhere. It’s just what I do. So I would never retire.”
Keith Urban continues, joking that he isn’t Mick Jagger’s age yet. There is no need for either to break out their AARP card just yet.
“Plus, Jagger is what, 75? I think we have some tours ahead of us.”
Keith Urban ‘The Speed of Now Part 1’ Tour
Keith Urban will kick off his 2021 The Speed of Now Part 1 tour on August 26 in Put-in-Bay, Ohio. The 20 stop international tour heads to Urban home country of Australia to finish up the back half of it. He ends in Gold Coast, Australia, on December 19.
The tour comes in the wake of Keith Urban’s 11th studio album, The Speed of Now Part 1, which debuted in September of 2020. However, we are just not getting around to celebrating it in person. Does that mean there is a part 2 in the works? Gosh, we hope so.
Recently, the multi-talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player Keith Urban has released “Out of the Cage,” which features Breland & Nile Rodgers. The song is like pop, and country had a magical little baby, not typical to Urban’s usual sound. The artist also collaborated with P!nk to create the catchy hit “One Too Many.”
