“The mood is right. The spirits up.” And Lady A joined other country music stars in spreading Christmas cheer with their rendition of “Wonderful Christmastime.”
The popular group’s performance of Paul McCartney’s holiday song aired during an encore presentation of “CMA’s Country Christmas” special on ABC on Monday, Dec. 21.
Lead singer Hillary Scott set the festive tone, singing the first verse. Charles Kelley comes in next with Dave Haywood providing accompaniment on the guitar and additional vocals throughout the song. It’s an upbeat performance that is sure to get the most reluctant “Scrooge” or “Grinch” in a festive mood.
In addition to their performance on the holiday special, the members of Lady A also shared memories of Christmases past.
Scott said her most memorable holiday moment was receiving a pink Barbie car as a child. “It is one of my most memorable gifts that Santa ever brought me,” she said.
Kelley said his favorite memory was watching his son enjoy Christmas morning. Also, Haywood said his favorite holiday memory was the birth of his daughter near Christmas a few years ago.
“CMA’s Country Christmas” originally aired on Nov. 30. It is available for streaming on Hulu.
Lady A Releases Holiday Song
Lady A put fans in the holiday spirit last month with the release of a video for their Christmas tune, “Christmas Through Your Eyes.” The song is a look back at holidays gone by and to simpler times in their lives.
According to reports, the trio crafted the song themselves.
“We wrote that [song] with just the three of us, which is really the way we started as a band, so that was a special moment,” Haywood said. “[It was] something that could only happen at this point in time in our lives, in our career. So it was a special day to write that, have that on the record, and have that be something stamped in history for, you know, our kids, really.”
