Loretta Lynn’s sister, Crystal Gayle, is sharing the aftermath of the flooding in Tennessee.

The state has been hit hard by devastating flooding. According to WSMV, there are 22 people now confirmed dead in Humphreys County this weekend. There are also still 10 people missing as of Monday morning.

The flooding started Saturday when 17 inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours in a town called Waverly. Now, Tennessee has a new one-day rainfall record.

Lynn’s Sister Shares Message

Loretta Lynn and her family have felt the effects of the flood after it destroyed parts of the family ranch. Crystal shared photos of the ranch on Facebook to show the world what’s happening in Tennessee.

“To grasp the entirety of what has happened today is impossible. From start to finish, we’ve cried, we’ve prayed, we’ve searched, we’ve worried, we’ve helped. From the look on the young lady’s face who escaped with her life while she heard/saw animals drowning and humans screaming for help when noone could, to the hundreds missing or the dozens deceased, to the thousands who are homeless or the thousands who showed up to help and made a difference, to the catastrophic losses we’ve incurred or the realization that our town will never be the same again, to a community who will band together and help one another when they have nothing left to give but their time and effort, it’s truly incomprehensible,” Crystal Gayle wrote on Facebook.

Loretta Lynn’s sister is also hoping that relief efforts will come quickly for those who need it in the area. People’s lives have changed forever after the events this weekend. She also says that the ranch will close down until next year and that many of the animals remain in the fields with no fences.

“We are a mess. We can’t sleep … can’t shut our minds off.”

Loretta Lynn Foreman Dies

According to USA Today, Loretta Lynn is devastated after learning that her longtime ranch foreman, Wayne Spears, was swept up in the flash floods and has since passed away.

The Facebook account for Loretta Lynn’s ranch shared the absolutely devastating news. “With the heaviest of hearts we are saddened to report that our beloved foreman Wayne Spears did not survive being swept up in the floodwaters. Wayne has been a family friend to the Lynns and a fixture to the Ranch for decades and we are all devastated by his passing.”

As of now, there are massive search and recovery efforts going on in Waverly and Humphreys County.

Lynn also mourned the death of her friend by writing, “Our ranch family is our family. We lost my amazing ranch foreman, Wayne in this devastating flood. He’s one of us and the whole Lynn family is heartbroken. Please pray for his precious family and friends.”
