Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton Make Big Money From Reality TV
Bryan, a judge on “American Idol” beat Shelton, a mentor on “The Voice” by $2 million. It’s the singing competitions that allow both stars to separate themselves from other country performers. No other country singers made the top 100.
Bryan ranked No. 62. Shelton was No. 70. The Covid-19 pandemic destroyed a ton of profit from all the singers, no matter the genre. The coronavirus forced performers to postpone or cancel their gigantic, money-making tours.
Fortune estimated that Bryan grosses an average of $1 million per stop. Bryan announced his “Proud To Be Right Here” tour in January. with a May start. But the virus put it on ice for 2020. It’s now slotted to start next May with Morgan Wallen, Runaway June and Caylee Hammack also set to perform with him.
Bryan earns $12 million per season for “American Idol.” With two TV seasons per year, that represents more than half his yearly income.
It’s much the same story for Shelton, who also enjoyed huge financial success with his tours. Fortune said Shelton averaged just under $1 million. Shelton scheduled the second installment of his “Friends and Heroes” tour for 2020. The schedule now lists the start as next July. Lauren Alaina, the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson and Trace Adkins are expected to join Shelton on tour.
Shelton earns $13 million per season from “The Voice.” That means almost 60 percent of his income is from television.
