One of country music’s breakout stars, Jordan Davis, broke ground on the “TODAY Show” when he and Luke Bryan performed their new song, “Buy Dirt.”
However, instead of performing on the studio set, the two took it back to their roots and performed from a rural ranch, complete with a log cabin, which perfectly fits the song’s message.
The song is co-written by Davis alongside his brother, Jacob Davis, and frequent collaborators Josh Jenkins and Matt Jenkins. “Buy Dirt” was created during Jordan Davis’ life when he found himself at home with no audience to play for amid the pandemic. Now, that’s all he can look forward to.
“We’ve been counting down the days,” he told the “TODAY” co-anchors about getting back on the road. “We’ve been releasing a lot of new music throughout the pandemic, but this is the first time in my life that I haven’t been able to go out and play live music and see the fans, so we’re really, really close, and we’re excited to get back out and play some of this new music live.”
Davis’ Buy Dirt EP serves as the follow-up to the Louisiana native’s self-titled EP and his debut album, Home State. Produced by Paul DiGiovanni, the album features seven tracks co-written by Davis. The only outside tune is the John Prine-inspired “Blow Up Your TV.”
Jordan Davis Set To Welcome Baby No. 2
Big things continue to happen for Jordan Davis. Besides his upcoming tour and album drop, he’s also about to become a dad for the second time. Although, they almost forget to let their friends, family and fans in on the secret.
Davis jokingly told the “TODAY” co-hosts about the slip up: “We kind of waited a little late on announcing this, so much so, that my wife came downstairs one day and was like, ‘Hey are we gonna announce this baby before it gets here?’ I think that everybody has just been in kind of a weird headspace and. I just kind of totally forgot to tell my parents that we were expecting baby number two.”
Davis will return to the road this fall on Kane Brown’s Blessed and Free Tour.
