Luke Bryan Will Solo-Host 2021 CMA Awards

Country Music Association and ABC announced on Monday (October 18th) that country superstar and American Idol judge Luke Bryan will host the 55th Annual CMA Awards on November 10th, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Country fans! The moment we’ve all been waiting for is HERE!! Introducing our HOST of The 55th Annual #CMAawards on Wednesday, Nov. 10… two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year @LukeBryan!!” The association declared in an Instagram post.

Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer, says in a statement that the organization is thrilled about Luke Bryan being the host for this year’s event. “His fun and playful energy is something television viewers have welcomed into their homes week after week as a judge on American Idol, and I know he has something exciting up his sleeve for the CMA Awards.”

Along with Luke Bryan hosting, Trahern also stated that the CMA organization cannot wait to bring music fans a “magical night” of performances. And some of the most special moments that the event has ever delivered. 

Rob Mills, Walt Disney Television Executive Vice President, Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment, added. “I am excited for Luke [Bryan] to bring the same humor, energy, and emotion as host of the CMA Awards that he has for the last five years on American Idol.” 

Performers and presenters for “The 55th Annual CMA Awards” will be revealed in the coming weeks. Winners of the 55th Annual CMA Awards will be determined in a final round by eligible voting CMA members. The third and final ballot is open now for CMA members. With voting for the CMA Awards final ballot closing Wednesday, October 27th.

Luke Bryan Speaks Out About Hosting the 55th Annual CMA Awards

While speaking about his role at this year’s big event, Luke Bryan declares the CMA Awards is one of the biggest nights of the year for country music. “Being asked to host the CMA Awards was definitely something I put a lot of thought into answering. The pressure that comes along with that can be overwhelming. But knowing I get to help honor and celebrate so many of my friends. I knew it was something I couldn’t turn down.”

Luke Bryan also recalled growing up in George and watching Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Rogers, and Barbara Mandrell receive an award at the CMA Awards. “They were so good. And then becoming a part of this amazing Country Music family. And sitting on the front row while Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, and Darius Rucker took the reins. All of these artists are heroes and friends. And I am honored to have my name included in this group.”

Luke Bryan is also a two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year.
