Tonight, country music star Luke Combs found his way onto a stage that he had previously only dreamed of standing upon as he accepted the 2021 CMT Artist of the year award.

And, while Luke Combs’s hit music speaks for itself, it was his words tonight that moved the crowd during the annual awards event in what was probably the coolest acceptance speech ever!

“I never know what to say, um, I just want to say thank you,” Luke Combs said during his moving Wednesday speech evening.

“To the fans, thank you,” the country singer says. “To everybody sitting in this room.”

During the acceptance, which is sure to go down as one of the best of the 2021 CMT Music Awards, the award-winning country singer made sure to thank his wife, his team, and his label for helping him find his way to success.

Then, he went on to thank the very people who inspired him to aim for the stage on which he was standing.

“Everybody in this room, man, pushes me to be better,” the country singer says.

Soon, however, Luke Combs turned his attention to one very specific inspiration.

Luke Combs Pays Tribute To Some Of Country Music’s Biggest Icons

“Randy, I watched you play in this building a few years ago with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and was absolutely blown away,” Luke Combs said of watching country icon Randy Travis perform in the historic Nashville Tennessee Bridgestone Arena.

“To be in the same room with you again, in the same place, and to just have a small fraction of an impact on country music like you’ve had man, is incredible,” the country star continues.

Of course, Luke Combs couldn’t finish his acceptance speech without a shout-out to some of his colleagues.

“Chris man,” Combs says as he points to fellow country crooner Chris Stapleton.

“Everybody wants to be you, dude,” the country singer grinned as the audience laughed. “You’re so awesome, man!”

Before exiting the stage, Luke Combs added that he is grateful for all of the support he has had during his career.

“This is for the fans, this is for country music,” the star said. “I love you guys. Thank you for letting me do what I do.”

Born and raised in North Carolina, Luke Combs has been performing country music since he was a child.

Shortly after deciding to pursue his dreams of becoming a country music star as an adult, Combs packed his bags and set off for Nashville Tennesse.

In 2014, Combs released The Way She Rides which quickly became a hit within the genre.

Luke Combs’s official debut album, This One’s for You was released in 2107 and quickly found its place all the way at number four of the Billboard 200 list.

In November of 2019, Combs released another album, What You See Is What You Get. This album topped charts across genres, making the star a household name.
