Luke Combs commented on a viral video that features a young couple getting engaged and a grandfather’s delighted reaction all set to his song “Forever After All.”

The couple, only identified as Emily and Devin, had gone to visit her grandfather this summer, The Boot reported. Her grandpa was in poor health and she wanted to make sure to see him again. Emily says in the video that she’s very close to him, but her boyfriend hadn’t met him until this summer.

During the trip, Devin seized on the opportunity and decided to get down on one knee and pop the question in front of her family. Emily posted the video of the proposal set to Combs’ “Forever After All” on Tik Tok. Her grandfather’s stunned reaction helped fuel the video’s virality on social media.

It got so much attention that even Combs saw it.

“I think that’s the coolest thing as an artist that you can accomplish is hearing the stories or watching the moments that fans have with your songs,” he said, according to The Boot. “That’s why you do it, man, to make people happy and give them a feeling of connection to your music.”

Luke Combs’ Engagement Story Involves Sick Cats

Earlier this year, Comb’s wife Nicole Hocking went on the “Couple Things” podcast and explained how he popped the question. And how it didn’t go according to plan.

According to The Boot, Hocking said she and Combs were moving from their apartment in Nashville to their new home in late 2018.

Combs had planned, she said, to surprise her with the proposal by attaching the ring to one of their cats’ collars. He had gotten the two animals new tags with the new address. But during the move, the cats got sick in the car ride — twice.

After the second time they had to clean the cats, Combs decided the felines weren’t going to be much help. However, he wasn’t going to give up.

“After I gave them their baths, he was like, ‘I got these collars for the cats with the new address on it.’ And he was like, ‘I also got you this,'” Hocking said. Combs then got on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

“… I was just like, ‘My ears are hot, what’s going on?’ I wasn’t expecting it at all, especially in that moment.”

They were married earlier this year.
