It should come as no surprise that members of the country music community, including Luke Combs, are doing what they can to help the people of Middle Tennessee in the wake of devastating flooding. The waters hit Humphreys County in late August and led to at least 20 deaths.
This area of the Volunteer State is very familiar to country music icon Loretta Lynn. Her famous farm, the Loretta Lynn Ranch, is located in the area – in Hurricane Mills to be exact. The Coal Miner’s Daughter also suffered a personal loss in the flooding. Her ranch foreman, Wayne Spears, died in the storm.
“There is so much happening in the world, and we as a people have a duty to take care of each other. My part of the world happens to be Humphreys County. And our town has come together and helped with what we can, but it’s going to take more than us,” Lynn’s granddaughter, Tayla Lynn, recently shared.
In an effort to help the people of her community, Loretta Lynn will be headlining an upcoming benefit concert. Also scheduled to perform during the fundraiser are Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, and Luke Combs.
Combs Describes Flooding in Middle Tennessee as ‘Heartbreaking’
On Friday, Sept. 3, Combs took to social media to express his joy at being included in such an important event.
“It’s been heartbreaking to see the devastation of the recent floods in Middle Tennessee, that literally hit so close to my home, so I wanted to do my part & help. I am honored to be a part of this event with @LorettaLynn,” Luke Combs posted to his Twitter account.
The “Forever After All” singer encouraged his followers to attend the concert. He also encouraged them to donate to the flooding relief efforts.
“I hope you can come and join this amazing group of artists who want to use their music and platform to help heal our neighbors. See you at the @opry. To donate, text TNFLOODRELIEF to 44321,” Luke Combs also shared.

Luke Combs Will Join Loretta Lynn In Benefit Concert on Sept. 13
The benefit concert led by Loretta Lynn is set for Sept. 13. It will take place at the famous Grand Ole Opry. Proceeds will go to the United Way of Humphreys County.
“The flood that devastated our area has been awful, but love is stronger. I’m so grateful for my friends who are answering my call for us to all pitch in and help every way we can,” Loretta Lynn recently posted on Twitter.
The concert led by Loretta Lynn is not the only benefit concert planned to aid the Middle Tennessee flood victims. Billy Ray Cyrus is also headlining a concert on Sept 7. This event, “Waverly Strong: A Concert for Disaster Relief,” will take place in Nashville’s City Winery. Actor Dennis Quaid and others will also perform at this concert. Funds raised by this concert will also go to the United Way of Humphreys County.
