Luke Combs released a stripped-down acoustic preview of a new song called Ever Mine recently and his fans love it. Fans seem to love the new tune, but they likely don’t know the surprising place where the title came from.
He uploaded the song to his social media on Saturday. Fans have already played it hundreds of thousands of times.
It’s a very pretty song about love persevering through difficulties out of your control.
“I always find you’re the wind that whispers through the pines, blooming the rose, green on the vines. Until we meet again, my love sincerely signed, I’m ever yours, you’re ever mine,” he says in the chorus.
Combs is surely persevering during these troubled times. Because on Thursday Billboard magazine named him the top country artist of the year. It was an easy choice.
Moreover, Combs topped four of the five major year-end country charts. They were Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay Songs, Top Country Albums, and Country Digital Song Sales. Combs finished second to Morgan Wallen in the Country Streaming Songs category.
What Is It Like To Collaborate With Luke Combs?
Charlie Worsham, who Combs shouted out in his tweet about Ever Mine, explained on Instagram how the project came about, but also where the name of the song came from.
“Back in September, I was incredibly fortunate to be among a few songwriters invited to the Florida Keys to write songs with @lukecombs.
“Luke, myself, and @haileywhitters penned three tunes in three days. This was the first one we got. I credit @kristenworsham with any contribution I might’ve made to this one, as “ever mine” is a phrase I learned from watching #sexandthecity with her.
“I returned to Nashville with an even greater admiration and respect for luke, and it was simply wonderful to meet @nicohocking and their sweet pup Jojo.
“Maybe y’all know this about Luke and maybe you don’t, but I think most if not all of the co-writers on his songs, especially his hits to date, are writers who themselves are experiencing their first number one, or their first major recognition with a cut by a major artist. I just think that’s the coolest thing in the world. mad respect for Luke for sharing his stage and for lifting up so many others with his success. I am grateful to be in that good company. Hope y’all enjoy this song. can’t wait to see what happens next.”
Worsham was a member of Old Crow Medicine Show before going solo.
