Luke Combs finds his newfound anonymity quite amusing.

The country crooner spoke with Taste of Country Nights to discuss his music and life in the pandemic. After Combs recently shaved his head, it’s harder for fans to recognize him. Additionally, when he wears a face mask out in public, it’s even harder to see that it’s really him.

Combs actually sang karaoke in Europe and wasn’t recognized. Although, Europe is not known for their vast assortment of country music.

Finally, his latest incognito encounter happened during the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. He previously filmed his performance and acceptance speech and was on the west coast when it was about to air. He was out to eat at a restaurant on a patio when the awards show was beginning on a television inside the restaurant. Being on the west coast, there is a delay when the awards show actually began.

“And so they started late, and we’re eating dinner outside on this patio,” Combs told the outlet. “By the time we left, my performance hadn’t aired yet, but the awards were on the television. When I left I was like (to his server) ‘Hey, if you look at this TV in like 10 minutes, there’s gonna be a fat dude on there that looks a lot like me. But it’s not me though.'”

Luke Combs has had a quite busy year. He recently released his deluxe studio album, What You See Ain’t Always What You Get. Besides the big album, he also performed during the 2020 CMT Music Awards. Combs shotgun a beer on stage alongside Brooks & Dunn. He will also perform at the 2020 CMA Awards later this month. He will be giving an emotional rendition of one of his newly released tracks, “Cold As You.”
