Why did Luke Combs just unrelease a song?

Last year, the breakout country star took part in Jake Owen’s “Demo Challenge” last year. Essentially, artists were to post videos of them performing their demos. Morgan Wallen debuted his now hit “7 Summers” on his release. He then challenged Luke Combs to the challenge. Combs responded with “South On Ya.”

“We got a little dirt road dust runnin’ through our blood from a never heard of it hometown / I got a can’t quit heart and some take it too far and a whole lotta never back down / If you come around here, better bring it, cause we’re no doubt / Gonna put a little South on ya”, Combs sings.

Well, the original demo version was deleted and now the song was actually recorded. The SEC Network decided to use it to promote the upcoming season. It’s the perfect hype song, as it rattles off every school in the conference.

SEC Media Days begins on Monday in Hoover, Alabama. All fourteen SEC coaches will be able to share their messages and tease reporters with their team’s skills.

“If you come around here, better bring it ‘cause we’re no doubt gonna put a little #SouthOnYa. @SECNetwork,” Combs captioned the video clip.

A Big Bet

Luke Combs is a big football fan himself, he even played it in high school. He is also up to date on everything Carolina Panthers. Last year, he lost a bet with his keyboardist over the Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons game. They wanted to up the stakes to a more physical challenge.

Luke Combs lost the bet and had to become a vegan. He even managed to stick to it while wedding planning. Did he continue the diet? Not so much.

“I’m still alive, I’ll put it that way,” Combs shared. “I eat a lot of bars like protein bars, a lot of veggies. And, if you’re not familiar with vegan, it’s no animal products whatsoever: no meat, no cheese, no milk, no butter, no anything good. So I’ve still got about 70 or 80 odds days left, which is pretty depressing to think about. But, I will prevail through the end of this. I’m looking forward to a good deer steak after this is all said and done.”

Luke Combs’ Passion For Basketball

Aside from Luke Combs’ passion for football, he also enjoys basketball. As a high schooler he would sneak out of class with his classmates to catch March Madness.

“I remember in high school we would try to sneak out of class and go check the Tar Heel’s scores,” he recalled. “Like say we were going to the bathroom and we knew one of our coaches were watching it or something like that so a lot of good memories with it.”
