Maren Morris joined the Bobby Bones Show to reveal the story behind her new collaboration with pop artist JP Saxe.

JP Saxe is a Grammy-nominated pop musician, singer, and songwriter. His most famous song is the beautifully made “If the World Was Ending,” which featured Julia Michaels.

Both artists were fans of one another, but the ball for the collaboration got rolling with a series of tweets about their admiration for one another. That led to the two meeting up a few months ago to write the song “Line By Line.”

“It really just happened over Twitter, and then he and Julia were coming to Nashville for like two weeks to write with a couple people. So we did it in person like everyone tested beforehand, and we sort of quarantined with our writers that week, so I wrote with him a couple times, and this is the second song that we got.”

Maren Morris Dedicated Song to Husband

We must say, the song is surely a hit with both JP Saxe and Maren Morris’s voices matching harmoniously.

We aren’t the only ones excited for “Line By Line,” though. Maren Morris reveals that she is overjoyed with how the song turned out. She also says that since both artists are in relationships with songwriters, they wrote them for their partners.

“I mean, I’m floored because he’s so talented. So we wrote this song fairly quickly, and I just immediately played it for Ryan, because, you know, JP is dating Julia. I’m married to Ryan. And I think both being in relationships with other songwriters and artists is like, we’re always trying to find something in a song that can really tell the story, and I feel like I immediately played it for Ryan because it’s about him.”

Very sweet. Where can we find someone that will write a love song about us? Is that too much to ask?
