Before alarms start blaring, let’s be clear — Mark Chesnutt is okay. However, he does need to cancel his upcoming shows to have back surgery. The announcement followed a recent incident in which Chesnutt had to cancel a performance due to complications of his back injury. He informed fans of his coming procedure in a press release on Wednesday, July 7.

Although the majority of Chesnutt released his most successful albums and singles in the 90s, the country star keeps his music alive and fan base excited with his 100 performances per year. Some of his most popular singles include “I Just Wanted You to Know,” “She Was” and a cover of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”

The 57-year-old country star was originally going to play in Roscoe, Texas next as a part of his 2021 tour. However, Chesnutt will have to reschedule the next few weeks’ coming concerts, as his procedure requires a 9-10 week recovery period. For now, the country star canceled concerts leading up until September 5, pending new dates. His regular schedule resumes September 10 in which he’ll perform at Fort Madison, Iowa.

Mark Chesnutt Has Had Back Injury For a ‘Very Long Time’

Although Mark Chesnutt does not clearly state the nature of his injury, he does explain to fans that the surgery is urgent.

“I’ve been suffering with this for a very long time, and postponed as long as I could,” he said. “When the doctor says, ‘You have no choice,’ you have no choice!”

After postponing his tour due to COVID-19 restrictions last year, the country star expressed frustration over having to cancel again.

“I hate to get off the road just as the venues opened back up,” Mark Chesnutt shared. “I was really looking forward to this year! I appreciate the support and understanding from my fans, and I’ll see you all real soon.”

Chesnutt Announces 2022 Country Music Cruise

From January 15-22, fans can see Chesnutt perform alongside other headliners such as country legend, Josh Turner, Neal McCoy, Sawyer Brown and more. The cruise begins in Ft. Lauderdale and continues to destination in Mexico and part of the Bahamas.

Mark Chesnutt announced the water-based tour on June 1st.

“After this year, y’all deserve a vacation — and I got one for ya!” he said on his official website. “Book your cabin on The Country Music Cruise for non-stop live performances and artist-led interactive events. Use promo code CHESNUTTFAN when you book for insider savings!”

Hopefully, by January, Chesnutt will be fully recovered and able to enjoy the island destinations as well.
