Congratulations are in order for Grammy-nominated country star Mickey Guyton. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy earlier today. The proud new mother shared a snapshot of her little one on social media earlier this afternoon.
As of late, Mickey Guyton has been speaking out about some heavy issues. However, in her Instagram post, Guyton says that bringing her son Grayson into the world was the hardest thing she’s ever done. At the same time, she was given the most beautiful reward.
While we can’t see much of Mickey Guyton’s son in the photo, he looks to be healthy and resting peacefully. Guyton closed her brief caption with Psalm 30:5. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Whether that is in reference to recent issues, the process of giving birth, or both is unknown. It’s also irrelevant. The important thing is that Guyton and her son are both doing well after the birth.
Mickey Guyton and her husband Grant Savoy announced the pregnancy back in August of last year. The announcement came just over three years into the couple’s marriage. Like most first-time parents Guyton had her worries going into the pregnancy. However, most new parents aren’t rising stars in the country music world. Her career brought about its own set of concerns.
About this, she told Good Morning America, “In my mind, as a woman in the music industry, you think, ‘Oh, I can’t be pregnant and have a career. I can’t be a mom and have a career.’ I thought those things,” Guyton went on to say. “I had to just completely do some deprogramming in my mind and realize that we all deserve happiness and we all deserve a family.”
Mickey Guyton Has So Much to Celebrate
If you somehow missed Mickey Guyton, she is someone you should be watching. Guyton is a record-setting boundary-breaking and talented country music artist. With each new accomplishment, she breaks new ground for women of color in country music. In fact, Guyton is the first black woman to perform solo at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She was also the first black woman to be nominated for a Grammy in any of the country music categories. The nomination is for Best Solo Country Performance for her single, “Black Like Me.”
Now she can add Mother of One Lucky Little Man to her list of accomplishments.
