Country music star Mickey Guyton is appearing on todays’ (Nov. 25) Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Ahead of her performance, the “Black Like Me” singer offered an update on her son’s health.
Even though Guyton considers performing at the parade a “pinch-me moment,” she is anxious to get back home to her son. Guyton’s son, 9-month-old Grayson that she shares with husband Grant Savoy, “fell ill” back on November 11.
In a previous update, Guyton explained that he suffered from “dehydration because of a severe stomach bug” that landed him in the ICU.
“He’s doing so much better. He’s out [of the hospital].” She also mentioned, “He’s home with my husband right now. As soon as the parade’s done I’m getting on a flight to be back with him for Thanksgiving.”
Guyton went on to say that she has much to be thankful for this holiday season. This year marks her first Thanksgiving as a mother.
“I’m just thankful for family. I’m thankful for my son,” she said. “This is my first Thanksgiving as a mom, and that’s just changed my life. So I’m really thankful for that, and family and life.”
Mickey Guyton Praises Medical Team for Her Son’s ‘Road to Full Recovery’
In a post from Nov. 21, Guyton spoke out about the “road to a full recovery” for her son. Despite staffing issues at the hospitals, Grayson managed to get the care he needed.
“A pediatric doctor named Dr. Grace, stayed by Grayson’s side the entire time we were in the ER, discovered the problem and help[ed] create a plan to heal baby Grayson,” Guyton wrote. “Our family doctor, Dr. Nathan Ford also took action and helped Grayson secure a bed at the hospital when all the hospital’s [sic] were maxed out and understaffed because of nurse shortages.”
Guyton also gave major credit to the medical staff for his recovery. “I truly believe Grayson would not be on the road to a full recovery without them,” she wrote.
Also in a previous post, Guyton thanked all of her fans and followers for lifting up prayers for Grayson.
“Every single prayer lifted up over him when he was headed to the ICU and it’s working, and he was stabilized and released from the ICU within a matter of hours,” she concluded. “He’s getting better by the minute, it’s just going to take some time.”
Even though he’s been going through some health issues, Guyton adds that her little guy is a tough one. “Despite all of this, Gray is a fighter and his labs are showing he is headed in the right direction,” she wrote.
In addition to performing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mickey Guyton would likely describe her latest accomplishment as another “pinch-me moment.” The 37-year-old artist racked up multiple nominations for the 2022 Grammys. Learn more here.
