Morgan Wallen has recently been in the spotlight for last weekend’s festivities in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has been seen on video without a mask, not following CDC guidelines for COVID protocol, and kissing several women. As a result, NBC’s Saturday Night Live canceled his performance for this week. Morgan responded with a two-and-a-half-minute video apologizing for his actions.
Many celebrities like Miranda Lambert have rushed to the country music star’s aid to give encouraging words and support.
With more than 18,500 comments on the apology video, many fans and celebrities alike are showing respect for the artist’s heartfelt words.
Miranda Lambert simply writes, “You’re a sweetheart. We got you.”
Other big-name stars, like Jake Owen, commented, “Don’t beat yourself up pal, God is still working on ya.” While Little Big Town member Kimberly Schlapman said, “You are precious!!! Your humility is astounding. We love you!!”
The CMA New Artist of the Year nominee’s sister Mikaela wrote on the post as well. She said, “You are an incredible brother and just overall a great person. I am proud of you and your heart and love you dearly!”
In the video, the 27-year-old new father admits that he has some growing up to do and that he understands the show’s decision. SNL and Wallen have agreed to reschedule the appearance but at an unspecified date.
“I’m not positive for COVID, but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted, and they’ve obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams,” he said. “I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy.”
Wallen also says that he will be taking a step back for the public eye to work on himself.
“You know, I think I’ve lost myself a little bit. I’ve tried to find joy in the wrong places, and I don’t know, it’s left with less joy. So I’m going to try to go work on that.”
Wallen has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram, while the viral video has already received more than 1.4 million views.
