Country singer Miranda Lambert is celebrating her second wedding anniversary by tweeting a sweet photo.
Miranda Lambert + Brendan McLoughlin
“2 years hitched!! #anniversary,” Lambert tweeted Tuesday.
Lambert, 37, met her husband Brendan McLoughlin, a former NYPD cop, when her band performed on “Good Morning America” in November of 2018. McLoughlin, 29, was working as a security guard for the show at the time.
“My girlfriends, the [Pistol] Annies [band], saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone,” Lambert told the New York Times. “They invited him to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me. My security guy Tom, he was in on it too. He said to me, ‘He’s here. And he’s pretty.’”
McLoughlin has since signed on to Lambert’s security detail, per People.
A friend of Lambert’s told Fox News that she is in a better emotional space since she met McLoughlin than she has been in quite a while.
“Miranda seems like she’s in a really happy place right now,” the source told Fox. “She is lighter and just not as standoffish as she used to be.”
A Rocky Road to Happiness
The friend explained that after Lambert’s divorce from Blake Shelton, and even during her rebound relationship with singer Anderson East, she was quiet and reserved.
“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want,” Lambert told Health magazine. “So when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up.”
Lambert met Shelton in 2005, while the latter was not yet single. Shelton filed for divorce from his first wife five months later, according to a timeline compiled by Country Living.
The country power couple got married in Texas in 2011. They announced they were getting a divorce in July of 2015.
Neither Lambert nor Shelton has ever offered a reason for their divorce. But in 2018 – around the time that Lambert started dating Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours while he was still married – Shelton fired off an interesting tweet.
“Been taking the high road for a long time,” he tweeted. “I almost gave up. But I can finally see something on the horizon up there!! Wait!! Could it be?! Yep!! It’s karma!!”
Whatever the reason for their divorce, it must have affected Lambert profoundly. She told an audience in Nashville last January that moving to town in the middle of her divorce had saved her amid a difficult time.
“I moved here in 2015 in the middle of a sh-t-show, but I was lifted up by people who were like, ‘We got you, girl.’ My friends and my songwriters and my fans and everybody here,” Lambert said.
But by February of 2019, Lambert had fallen in love again, this time with McLoughlin. And today marks two years they’ve been married – and happily so, by the looks of it.
