Tuesday, October 26th marked an emotional day for country star Miranda Lambert. It stands as the day she got inducted into an elite squad of other female legends like Reba McEntire. As she took the stage to accept her invitation into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, she fought back tears and tidal waves of big emotions.

Now that she’s had a few days to process everything, Miranda penned a long letter on Instagram to her fans. It details just how much the honor means to her. Ultimately, she credits the feat with reignited her “grit and determination.”

Miranda Lambert Is One of Only 200 Or So Honorees Recognized By the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame

Eleanor Green nominated Lambert for the honor and the ceremony took place in Fort Worth, Texas. At one point during the ceremony, Miranda spoke about what being a cowgirl really means to her. With a nervous and humble demeanor, she said the following: “I realized that it’s a mentality. It’s work ethic and character and drive and heart. It’s women who lift up other women.” Here’s the long letter she penned after taking a few days to sit with the career milestone:

Call it divine timing or pure coincidence, but the induction comes just shy of two weeks after the release of Miranda Lambert’s newest single, “If I Was A Cowboy.” Ultimately, she says she is “still processing this and will be for a long time.” She also says that “Being part of this kick ass club has lit a new fire in me to keep pushing to be better. To keep learning new things and to hold on tight to the grit and determination it takes to achieve your goals.”

Lambert is one of just 200 or so other cowgirls currently honored by the Hall of Fame. Other inductees include muralists, painters, rodeo titleholders, and even stunt workers. You can read more about their stories here.

It details the journey of her career from bar gigs to award shows and everything in between. As the most decorated artist in the history of the Academy of Country Music, Lambert’s list of accomplishments is quite the mouthful.
