Morgan Wallen Talks How ‘Sand in My Boots’ Got on ‘Dangerous’ Instead of Becoming a Luke Bryan Track

How did “Sand In My Boots” become a Morgan Wallen track instead of going to Luke Bryan? Find out the story behind the song, below.

All About ‘Sand in My Boots’

The tune is featured on Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album, a record that reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart. The song itself reached No. 8 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

The song itself tells the story of an initial meeting of two strangers who quickly fall for one another. The song talks about summertime and the non-country girl is ready to experience the South with her new beau.

What Morgan Wallen Had to Say

Wallen along with his collaborator HARDY shared how the song came about during Happy Hour Radio broadcast on Apple Music. Bryan and Wallen both “fell in love with it,” so how did Wallen snag it?

“I just had that idea in my phone for forever,” HARDY admitted. “And I went in to write with Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne at Smack, right across the street from Big Loud. I just had this idea about just a summer love kind of thing. And I wanted to call it ‘Sand in My Boots.’”

“I listened to it, I immediately fell in love with it, man,” Wallen added of the demo. Although, Wallen knew that he would modify the lyrics. “I knew I was going to have to change some of your Mississippi s–t off of there, but that’s all right.”

The songwriters still have no idea how Bryan heard the demo in the first place.

“We were all like, ‘Man, we wanted you [Wallen] to have it. We thought you could make it cool,’ HARDY explained. “So he missed out, dog.” “Sorry, Luke,” Wallen concluded.
