On Saturday (October 2nd) Shania Twain shared a little throwback that proves no one will ever look as iconic as the country legend does in a cowgirl hat.
“Diamond baby 💎🎈 #TheWomanInMe” Shania Twain captioned the post. The snapshot features the singer in water while wearing a cowgirl hat.
The throwback post comes just days after Taylor Swift posted a TikTok video of recognizing Shania Twain as being a woman in country music who went into the pop music genre as well. As previously reported, The video featured Lukas Graham’s Mama Said track and had pics of Twain.
Shania Twain went on to post a TikTok of her own honoring Dolly Parton as a personal influence. She captioned the video, “Thank you @taylorswift. I appreciate you! Paying this one forward to another trailblazer – @dollyparton #mamasaid #letsgogirls.”
Shania Twain Reflects on Making a Comeback After Losing Her Voice & Marriage
In a January 2020 interview with AARP, Shania Twain opened up about the struggles she dealt with after losing her voice as well as her marriage.
According to AARP, Twain unexpectedly lost her voice after receiving her dysphonia diagnosis. Dysphonia was notably caused by Lyme disease. “I was slowly losing my voice and slowly losing my confidence. And nothing that I could achieve in my career made me feel enough,” she recalled.
While dealing with her dysphonia diagnosis, Shania Twain discovered that her husband, Robert John “Mutt” Lang, had an affair with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. She then struggled with depression. “Sometimes, I get overwhelmed coping with things, but experience also teaches you how to manage,” The country singer declared. She also advised that as everyone gets older, they have so much experience of falling and getting up. “You’re not going to stop falling. But you will get better at getting up and brushing yourself off. I believe that. I’ve lived that.”
Shania Twain then said that survival is everything. She also described herself as being in quicksand while dealing with her struggles. “I panicked, like everybody does, but I didn’t surrender. I found a way out.”
After her divorce with Lang was finalized, Shania Twain went on to marry Marie-Anne’s ex-husband Frédéric Thiébaud in January 2011. When asked if she’s comfortable in her own skin, Twain admitted she is more comfortable now than she was when she was younger. “It was really a struggle back then. But with age, you ask, ‘OK, how many more years do I have to live. And do I really want to live them feeling negative about myself and the things I can’t change?’”
Twain then said that age brings perspective and every day she is learning something new. “And I plan on doing that till the day I die.”
