On This Day: Charlie Daniels, Chris LeDoux’s ‘A Wrangler Cowboy Christmas’ Airs in 1995

A very cowboy Christmas. At least that appears to be the theme of the “A Wrangler Cowboy Christmas” special starring late country artists Charlie Daniels and Chris LeDoux. The special aired on TNN on this day in 1995.

The Christmas show was recorded at Daniel’s very own Twin Pines Ranch.

This Christmas-themed show demonstrated the rodeo lifestyle to his fans.

This year the annual “Cowboy Christmas” event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Usually, Las Vegas is the home to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The Christmas event is usually from Dec. 3-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

According to NFR Experience, the Wrangler NFR and Cowboy Christmas event has grown to a 440,000-square-foot shopping and interactive experience in the last few years.

The Cowboy Christmas includes live entertainment, specialty food and beverage, as well as other exhibits.

Charlie Daniels and Dog the Bounty Hunter

Earlier this year, Duane “Dog” Chapman announced plans to use the Charlie Daniels Band’s song “Simple Man” in his new show “Dog Unleashed.”

The 1989 song was the very last Top 20 single of Daniel’s career. Charlie Daniels passed away in July at age 83 from a hemorrhagic stroke.

Besides living on in his legendary discography, will also live on in the new Dog the Bounty Hunter show. The song in question “Simple Man” is all about serving up justice to the drug dealers and rapists of the world.

“Now if I had my way with people sellin’ dope / I’d take a big tall tree and a short piece of rope / I’d hang ’em up high and let ’em swing ’til the sun goes down … Just take them rascals out in the swamp / Put ’em on their knees and tie ’em to a stump / Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest.”

According to Taste of Country, the show premieres on January 1. This show features the crew chasing down people accused of crimes like rape, murder, and child molestation.

The Daniels tune will serve as the justice song for the new show.
