Twenty-five years ago today (June 3, 2021), country music legend George Strait released the song that would become the 30th chart-topper of his career.

That song was “Carried Away.” It’s a song about a man in love with someone who makes his life so much better. It’s a sweet and moving track that perfectly captures what it is like to be head over heels in love.

Here’s a small sample of the lyrics: “It might seem like an ordinary night / Same old stars, the same old moon up high / But when I see you standin’ at your door / Nothing’s ordinary anymore.”

According to ThisDayInCountryMusic.com, “Carried Away” was the second single off of George Strait’s “Blue Clear Sky” album. Like 29 other songs by The King of Country before it, “Carried Away” climbed all the way to the top of the country music charts.

The song also earned Strait a nomination for Single of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards in 1997. Interestingly, it was not the only song of his nominated for the award that year. The other was “One Night at a Time.”

“Carried Away” was not the only hit from George Strait’s “Blue Clear Sky” album. According to his website, there were also two other songs on the album that rose to the top of the charts. They were “Blue Clear Sky” and “I Can Still Make Cheyenne.”

The album was the 16th studio album released by Strait. It was also a major success. It sold three million copies in the United States. This earned it multi-platinum honors three times. It also brought the King of Country some hardware. It was named album of the year at the AMAs, ACMs, and CMAs.
