“Let’s go, girls!” We got an amazing Shania Twain anniversary to celebrate.

On June 22, 1995, legendary crossover artist and all-around star performer Shania Twain earned her very first platinum certificate. It was for the album “The Woman in Me,” which she released on February 7 of that year. It was her sophomore album and it earned her the Grammy Award for Best Country Album that year.

By December 1, 2000, this album was certified as 12x Platinum by RIAA.

Her second album proved to be the catalyst that would launch her into fame and success, as well as one of the best-selling artists to date. You may recognize the album for hot hits like “You Win My Love,” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” “No One Needs to Know,” and “If You’re Not in It for Love (I’m Outta Here.)”

The producer of the album was Robert “Mutt” Lange, who was her husband at the time. The two co-wrote a majority of the tracks together.

‘The Woman in Me’ Shania Twain Album

One of Shania Twain’s most popular songs of her career is actually “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” She credits it as one of her breakthrough songs. She told CMT in 2004 that “‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’ was a song that I had already started … My grandmother used to have this saying about cookie crumbs in bed or something like that. Some silly saying that goes back to who knows when.”

It would turn out to be one of the best-selling albums of her entire career. However, “Come on Over” still keeps that record for Shania Twain. This was her next album after “Woman in Me” and has sold over 40 million copies. It stayed on the U.S. Top 10 chart for 54 weeks, stayed on the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 for 112 weeks, and is the eighth best-selling album ever in the U.S.

“The Woman in Me” album was re-released in October 2020 as the new “Diamond Edition.” The final single on her album is called “God Bless the Child” and is perhaps one of the singer’s most intimate songs. The original version of the song was actually a cappella but went through alterations for radio play. It is almost like a poem and it’s the prayer that Twain had after her parents died.

New Music and Future Performances

While this milestone in her career is incredibly important, Shania Twain is looking to put out her best album yet this year.

“When is my new album coming out? It’s so difficult to say that an album is finished and ready. I’m not procrastinating, but I do admit that COVID has created some timing issues because it’s been very difficult to get together with producers and musicians in the same room,” Shania Twain said on her Apple Music radio show, “Home Now Radio.”

She’s hoping it’ll be one of her best and even said she’s “on a mission to make the best album I’ve ever made.” As we wait for that, Shania fans can also see her during a Las Vegas residency soon. Her residency is from December 2-4, 2021. She will also be there February 11-26, 2022.
