Back in 2006, when Gary LeVox recorded “My Wish” with Rascal Flatts, his daughter Brittany was only 6. Over ten years later, she sang the song written about her as a duet with her father. In this beautiful and sentimental moment in 2018, Gary and Brittany LeVox delivered an extremely powerful performance for fans and families.
Check out the performance below:
Both Brittany and Gary LeVox have expressed their immense pride in each other. For instance, Bobby Bones recalls a moment backstage at a Rascal Flatts concert back in the day talking to Brittany about her dad. “This is what I want to do. I’m so proud of my dad that it almost makes me want to cry,” she said to Bones.
Gary LeVox clearly shares this pride in his daughter, as he shared after the 2018 performance. He posted a picture on Instagram following the performance, singing the praises of his daughter.
“My baby singing “My Wish” with me in W. Palm last night,” LeVox said in the Instagram post. “Went from a baby when we cut this song, to her singing it with me on stage at 17 yrs old. I never woulda dreamed it up!”
While “a baby” may have been a slight exaggeration, any parent will understand what it feels like to see their child grow up. Not only did LeVox see his child grow up, he experienced her transformation from the subject of the song into the singer herself. What a beautiful moment for the two of them.
“Britt, your daddy is so proud of you,” Gary LeVox continued. “I have no words for the amazing gift that GOD has upon your life! I’m humbled to be your earthly daddy but what your Heavenly Father has in store for you is more than I can barely stand! I will forever be your biggest fan! THANK U JESUS for an amazing 3-day daddy-daughter weekend!”
Brittany LeVox to Follow in Gary LeVox Footsteps
As the song “My Wish” talks about, Gary LeVox always wished for Brittany’s future success. Now, almost fifteen years after the release, both the song and the wish are still alive. Brittany wanted to follow her father and chase a career in music. Now, Gary LeVox has the opportunity to see that happen.
Brittany has made several appearances at Rascal Flatts concerts, not only as a child of the band but also as a member. For instance, in 2016, she sang a duet with LeVox of the song “I Won’t Let Go” when she was only 16-years-old. Then two years later, she sang the heartwarming duet of “My Wish” with her father, as his wish came true.
