Since early 2020, the norms that we’ve been used to have been hard to maintain. This includes how we mourn those we have lost. And, even the rich and famous are not immune to the impacts of the pandemic. One famous person who has not been able to mourn a loved one is country music superstar Reba McEntire.

The loved one the “Fancy” singer lost was her mother, Jacqueline McEntire. The McEntire matriarch passed away on March 14, 2020, according to an Instagram post shared by her famous daughter on Thursday, Aug. 5. Mrs. Jacqueline McEntire was born on Nov. 6. 1926. She was 93 years old at the time of her death.

In a social media post Reba McEntire shared this week, the famous singer shared an update about the upcoming memorial service that was planned for her late mother. This memorial was supposed to take place on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021. However, due to the rising cases of COVID-19, Reba McEntire and her family have decided to postpone her mother’s memorial service yet again.

“With heavy hearts, we are postponing Mama’s memorial that was scheduled for August 8, 2021,” McEntire said. “We feel that it’s not a good idea to continue with the plans due to the increase of Covid cases in Atoka County.”

Reba McEntire also asked her fans, followers, and friends on Instagram to share the news.

“Because of such short notice, please help spread the word for us if you know anyone who was planning on attending,” Reba McEntire also shared.

McEntire hopes that she and her family will be able to honor her mother soon. They want that to happen when it is safe to do so.
