A Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton duet is finally coming!

After over a decade’s long friendship, the two country legends are collaborating for the first time ever.

On Friday, August 13, McEntire made the big announcement. The “Fancy” singer revealed that her Revived Remixed Revisited will debut on October 8. The box set will include newly recorded versions of each of her classic hits. The record will be divided into three sections.

The Revived part will feature songs with different arrangements of tracks from her live show. Remixed will feature different collaborators to create new duets. Finally, Revisited will feature stripped-back versions of her tunes. This will be produced by fame producer, Dave Cobb. This marks the first time that they have worked together. The other first is working with Dolly Parton on a new rendition of “Does He Love You.” The original recording featured Linda Davis and reached No. 1 on the country airplay charts back in 1993.

Parton appeared on Watch What Happens Live! and addressed their duet.

“We did a new version of it. It turned out really good because I’ve always wanted to sing with her and don’t know why we never did it until now. But we really sounded good together. I think the fans are going to like it,” Parton said.

Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton’s Relationship

During a 2018 interview with E! News Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire considered the thought of a joint tour. This came after Parton’s guest appearance on Reba’s sitcom.

“Wouldn’t that be a hoot? Yeah, I would consider that in a heartbeat,” McEntire said. “I love Dolly Parton. When I was doing the Reba TV show, Dolly spent the whole week with us on set. She was one of the guest stars and that’s the last time we really got to sit down and visit.”

Additionally, Reba McEntire shared that she would be intrigued by a Thelma & Louise film with Parton.

“Anywhere you can go in the world and you say Dolly — you don’t have to say Dolly Parton — everybody knows Dolly and everybody loves Dolly. Why wouldn’t you want to hang out with her?” she concluded.

Both of the women have been staples in the music industry for quite some time. Reba McEntire recently spoke about retiring with Dolly on her Forging Your Own Path podcast.

“So, as long as I’m living, I’m a workin’. And like Reba, we’ve talked about retiring. I said, ’What would I do? There’s no way I could retire.’ I’ve always said I want to be just like one of those little fainting goats, you know,” Parton explained. “I just always want to be running along and just keel over one day. And just die right in the middle of a song. Hopefully, one that I’ve written.”
