Reba McEntire Releases New Track ‘Somehow You Do’

Country star Reba McEntire has released a new single, “Somehow You Do,” as well as a music video to accompany the song.

McEntire tweeted a link to the music video on Friday. “Watch the official music video for ‘Somehow You Do’ now,” she posted.

Reba McEntire’s New Song Is an Ode to Tenacity

The Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren wrote “Somehow You Do.” She also wrote McEntire’s two previous songs “What If” and “I’ll Be.” This new song is an ode to tenacity and to hanging in there until you see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a fundamentally optimistic piece about toughing it out ’til things improve.

“’Cause it’s those times, it’s those times when times get bad / You’ll find the strength you didn’t know you even had / Somehow you’ll get through this,” the lyrics go.

“Somehow You Do’ is a song about hope, about how even through the times that are so hard and moments in your life that are so devastating, that somehow you will get through them and get to the other side,” Warren said in a statement, per PopCulture. “It is a song about strength of the human spirit. And no voice can convey that as much as Reba McEntire. She makes you feel with every note that you might think you can’t get through it, but somehow you will, and somehow you do.”

Music Video Features Scenes from ‘Four Good Days’

In the music video, directed by Jon Avnet, McEntire walks down a dusty two-lane road in the southwest with snow-capped mountains in the background, singing. The shots of McEntire are cut with scenes from the film “Four Good Days.” In that film, Mila Kunis plays a drug addict who has to stay sober for four days before she can get an opiate antagonist shot. Glenn Close also stars in the film as her mother.

“It’s an honor to get to sing a Diane Warren song anytime. But then to be associated with talented actors in a movie like Glenn and Mila is just icing on the cake,” McEntire said in the statement. “Add in Jon Avnet directing the video and it just doesn’t get much better!”

McEntire Has Been In the Recording Studio Lately

That project was plenty to tackle. But the hardworking country star has been back at it, according to an Instagram video she posted recently. McEntire shared a clip of herself in the recording studio.

“Been in the studio working on something fun this week!!! #StayTuned #CantEvenGetTheBlues,” the singer posted.

That sent fans buzzing. Comments began pouring in about McEntire’s amazing voice and how they can’t wait to hear more of what she’s been working on. Could it be a re-release of her 2002 hit or a new album?

Time will tell. But in the meantime, McEntire’s lovely new music video is available to all online.
