For many country music fans, it doesn’t get much better than Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. They both have incredible catalogs of music. However, it goes deeper than that. Reba and Dolly have influenced generations of artists.

It seems only right to get these two icons on a song. However, they had never recorded together until recently. So, when Reba McEntire teamed up with Dolly Parton to do a new version of Reba’s hit, “Does He Love You,” the world went crazy. After all, it’s two of the greatest country singers to ever hold a microphone on one killer song. Everybody wins here.

This morning, Reba spoke to the Today Show about the collaboration. Apparently, the fans weren’t the only ones who were excited about their duet.

Reba McEntire on Recording with Dolly Parton

Reba McEntire told Today that making the video for “Does He Love You,” was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, she said, they didn’t get to actually record together. COVID restrictions made them duet from a distance. About that, Reba said, “I put the tracks down with Dave Cobb. Then, we sent the tracks and my vocal over to Dolly.”

Then, Reba McEntire took a moment to praise Dolly Parton for her contribution to the duet. “She came up with this version that is totally different than the way anybody else has ever sung the song.” Overall, she said, “I was thrilled to death with it.”

Reba McEntire touched on the fact that it took her and Dolly Parton this long to get on a song together.

“We couldn’t believe we hadn’t done a duet before, but it was fun. We had a great time getting to shoot the video.”

If you watch the video, you can tell they had a great time working together. The last moments of the video are guaranteed to put a smile on any country fan’s face.

If you loved watching Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton sing together, you may get another chance in the near future. Recently, CMT reported that Reba talked about wanting to perform live with Dolly.

About Dolly Parton, she said, “Dolly was exactly the sweetheart you think she is. I can’t wait to sing [“Does He Love You”] live with her.” She mentioned hoping to perform with her fellow country icon at an awards show next year.

This proves, once again, that it’s a great time to be a country music fan.
