Country superstar Reba McEntire is returning to the Grand Ole Opry stage in a few short weeks on June 22.

The singer and actress is getting back out there to perform live again after a pandemic-induced hiatus. She’ll be gracing the Opry stage alongside acts like Gary Mule Deer, Lukas Nelson and Carly Pearce, and she’s already announced some 2022 tour dates as well. “Looking forward to being back at the @opry!” McEntire tweeted Friday.

Reba McEntire Had a ‘Wonderful’ Time in Quarantine

Besides getting together with her new boyfriend Rex Linn, McEntire also spent the pandemic quarantining with her sister Susie and brother-in-law Mark.

The family had to deal with the death of McEntire’s 93-year-old mother Jacqueline, who had been battling cancer, last March. So when it came time to help out with the funeral arrangements, McEntire went back to Oklahoma and hunkered down with Susie et al.

“It was a true blessing,” McEntire said last year on the “Today” show. “I got to stay there at Mama’s house and help… clean everything out. We had so many great times, going through drawers and boxes, and found pictures we’d never seen before, and we cried, we laughed, we toasted Mama. It was just an absolute, huge blessing to get to do that.”

The hard-charging McEntire appreciated the chance to slow down and spend time with family. And she didn’t have any complaints about having to quarantine. In fact, she said the time away had been “priceless.”

“We’ve been going so fast, so furious for so long,” McEntire said. “I am so thankful for this quarantine time. My heart goes out to the folks who have been ill, who have lost loved ones, but it has been wonderful for me. To get to be with my little sister the way we were for the last two months is priceless. I’ve loved it, every minute of it.”

McEntire Is a Proud Big Sister

McEntire has three siblings: Pake, Alice and Susie. In the 1980s, Susie toured with Reba as a backup singer. And she went on to her own successful career as a contemporary Christian music singer.

McEntire is a proud big sister, plugging the show Susie’s hosting on the Circle Network and congratulating Susie on her recent Grand Ole Opry debut. McEntire also recruited Susie as well as Alice and their mother to join her in singing on her gospel album Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.

Her family has been through a lot, but McEntire has always been there for them. And now that the pandemic is waning, it’s time for McEntire to get reacquainted with her bigger family: the world of country music.
