Reba McEntire Reveals She & Her Boyfriend Contracted COVID-19 Despite Being Vaccinated

In a TikTok livestream earlier this month, Reba McEntire revealed that she and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, contracted COVID-19 despite being vaccinated for the virus. According to CNN, this kind of contraction is known as a “breakthrough case” and is considered a concern due to the widespread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.  “I just want to say one thing. This has been a hard year and it’s getting rougher again,” McEntire states. “You guys, please stay safe. Wear your mask. Do what you have to do. Stay home.”

Reba McEntire also states that it’s not easy dealing with the virus. “I did get it. Rex and I got it. It’s not fun. You don’t feel good. We were both vaccinated and we still got it. So stay safe, stay home, and be protected the best you can.”

“You know, the COVID thing has really hit hard and spikes are going everywhere right now, Reba continues. “And it’s all over the country — this new variant.”

Reba McEntire further explains that she and her crew still have plans to go back on tour in January, February, and March of 2022. “We have plans with being with Brooks & Dunn at Ceasars in December – the first two weeks, almost three weeks of December – but we don’t know if that’s going to go [because of COVID-19].”

Reba McEntire Puts Memorial Ceremony For Late Mother on Hold

Along with the recent news that she had COVID, Reba also reveals that she has to postpone her mother’s memorial event, which was originally scheduled to take place this past weekend. “We feel that it’s not a good idea to continue with the plans due to the increase of COVID cases in Atoka County,” Reba wrote in an Instagram post.

Reba McEntire’s mother had passed away in March of 2020 just days before COVID-19 lockdowns began. She was unable to provide her mother an actual funeral with other loved ones.

Reba previously told Hoda on Today that despite the COVID-19 lockdowns, she was able to connect with her family following her mother’s death. “I got to stay there at Mama’s house and help clean everything out. We had so many great times, going through drawers, and boxes. [We] found pictures we never seen before. We cried, we laughed, we toasted Mama.”
